Delete Your Arfy Account and Data
You can delete your Arfy account at any time, right in the app. Your child's profile and entries go with it. Email is a backup, and you don't need the app installed to use it.
In the app
- Open Arfy and go to Settings, behind the grown-up lock.
- Tap Delete account, read what happens, and confirm with Delete.
- Wait for the app to return to the start. If the phone can't reach us, nothing is deleted, the app tells you, and you can try again.
By email
Email pippa.app.general@gmail.com from the address on the account with the subject Delete my Arfy account. We will check that the request comes from the account holder and delete the account. A parent or legal guardian can also use this address to ask for just a child's information to be deleted.
What happens on our servers
- Your child's profile, meals, food list, food visits and Arfy's state are removed from our live database right away.
- Your agreement records are removed with them.
- Your sign-in and email are removed. If that step fails, we retry it every day until it is done.
What happens on the phone
Once our server confirms the deletion, Arfy erases everything it saved on the phone, including plate photos, the food list and settings, and you are signed out. Plate photos were never on our servers.
On iPhone, your child's nickname and food list can be in a device backup in your own Apple account, because iPhone apps can't keep preferences out of backups. An older backup may hold them until it is replaced. On Android, Arfy has backup turned off.
What is kept, and for how long
- Recovery backups. Our database keeps rolling backups for disaster recovery. Deleted data can remain there for up to 35 days, then it ages out.
- A deletion receipt. It holds a random receipt number, a scrambled one-way version of the account number, the times, and how many items were removed. It holds no email, no name and no child data. We keep it as a record that the deletion happened, with no set end date.
Deletion can't be undone, and we can't bring an account back. Arfy has no subscriptions, so there is nothing to cancel.
